week10

This week, we all have done our team projects. Then, we are going to do another team project to submit on week12. It is about web applications. That is why we have moved to study about web applications this week. Firstly, we have leant about the definition of web page, wed site and web application “An application is a piece of software that may run in many different environments such as: desktops, laptops, and tablet computers; A wed application is an application that is accessed over a network such as the internet or an intranet”. After that we have known about the basic characteristics and components of WED 1.0, 2.0.   Wed 1.0 is traditional wed client server interaction model. Wed 2.0 is the term given to describe a second generation of the World Wide Web that is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online. However, Wed 2.0 is the popular term for advances Internet Technology and applications including blogs, wikis, Really simple Syndication (RSS) and social bookmarking; is a perceived transition of the wed to wed applications; is the next generation of technology solutions where interactive content is the norm; is about the maturity of the wed and businesses that are thriving online.

We also have learnt about Mashup, HTML and also ULR. There are many concepts that make me so confuse.  However, I must learn and understand it for the next assignment. These lectures are really necessary and useful. They provide information for us to develop simple wed applications in our assignment. Therefore, we must study and understand the concepts seriously. 

Week9

This week was the last time for us to prepare our project. Therefore, I felt very stress. I tried to complete on Tuesday night even I had so much other assignments. Because I had to submit it to my group mate on Wednesday. However, the internet connection was too slow and I could not work with it. I decided going to student center. I did the project until 11 pm and I thought it was completed. On the next day, I submitted it to my group mate. Then, we sent it to our lecturer to check it. Unfortunately, our project was not as good as our lecturer require. At that time, I really felt bad. I had only copied and pasted, I was not serious to do my work. Finally, we had a last discussion. All of us promised that we would do the project better and better. Therefore, I immediately stared to do. I tried to use my own work and just write what I have understood without copying. I worked with a group mate because her point and mine were similar and related. Fortunately, I had IT class on Thursday afternoon. Thus, I could ask my lecturer to recheck it. She said she would accept it. At that moment, I really wanted to cry. I wanted to cry because I was very happy. This might be the first time that I really know to treasure my fruit that I could get with endeavor. 

Week 8

This week, we continued the topic about Information system. However, we have known more types of IS. There were MIS (Management processing system), DSS(Decisiom support system),ESS( Excutive support system), ES(Expert support system) etc. We have learnt about the functions, feature of each one. In my opinion, i think i have expanded more knowledge.
From this, i know that most business schools (or colleges of business administration within universities) have an MIS department, alongside departments of accounting, finance, management, marketing, and sometimes others, and grant degrees in MIS. There is an example below :

For most businesses, there are a variety of requirements for information. Senior managers need information to help with their business planning. Middle management need more detailed information to help them monitor and control business activities. Employees with operational roles need information to help them carry out their duties.As a result, businesses tend to have several "information systems" operating at the same time:

However, the difficulty that we have to distinguish between them. Therefore, i have tried to find information from the internet to get understand and know clearly. This is the result that i have found that can help us easy to understand and compare:

wee7: Information system (continuous)

After 1 week for beak, all students feel really cheerful to continue our study. Moreover, i also had time to review what i had not understand about IS. Besides that, on the first class, our lecturer also has repeated some key words of this topic. That was about CBIs; as we know, CBIs ( Computer Based Information system) refer to system that stores information in case we need to retrieve or restore and manipulate the data. And we also have known the components of CBIs are 5: hardware, software, procedure, database and people.
This week, we started to know more about this. Firstly, it was about the role of CBIs. The roles of CBIs are:

• Support competitive advantage.
• Support business decision making.
• Support business operations and processes/

Besides that, we have known about the types of IS. There are:

• Transaction processing system (TPS).
•  Management IS (MIS).
• Decision support system (DSS).
• Executive support system (ESS).
• Expert support system (ES).
• Other is ( office support system, knowledge work system).

However, we just started to study about TPS this week. " TPS records the data from every day operations throughout every division or department in the organization. Each division or department is connected through the TPS to provide useful information to managment levels throughout the company". we also have learnt about the features ans components of TPS.

Now we are waiting for next week to study more about types of IS.

Week6: Mid-exam

I had an mid-exam last week. It really made me stressful. Before that, i thought the exam paper must  be very difficult, that is why i was nervous. I gave my whole mind to study all the task that we have learnt in 5 weeks before. The fact that it was not easy to remember all the concepts. I felt really worried. I tried to wake up in the early morning, because everyone said that it is the best time to commit your studies in memory. I have endeavored that in 3 days before the exam. Finally, i got success. I did the exam well and got 33/40 questions. I am not the one who get the highest mark ,but i also feel very pleased by my endeavor. I hope i can do better in the next exams.

Week5: Information System(IS)

On Thursday, we have been learnt about a new concept. That was Information System(IS). "IS is application of computer based of IT (combination of hardware, software, infrastructure and trained personnel).
We have been introduced about the definition of hardware, software, database, procedure and their role.
They are very difficult to understand and to commit them to memory.

Therefore, i am going to find some other information to make understand clearly about it. 

Week5: IT, ICT

After learning about IM, we continued to Information Technology(IT), Information Communication and Technology(ICT).
I have heard about IT so much before; however i did not really understand about it. In my opinion at that time, i thought that IT and ICT were one, they had the same meaning. But my knowledge was wrong.

1. Information Technology:
   • Miss Nisha has explained and then showed us the definition of IT: it is a term that refer to all forms of technology used to create, store, exchange, and use information.
   • To make us to more understand , she gave us an example: telecommunications product(such as telephones), information kiosks world wide wed sites, multimedia,and office equipment such as copier and fax machines. Temperature control devices, and medical equipment. 
   • And then, we went to know about IT concept. There are IT architecrure and Infastructure.
2. Information communication and Technology:

Actually, ICT is similar to IT, but focuses primarily on communication technologies. This includes the internet, networks, cellphones, and other communication mediums.Usage ICT in daily life: healthcare, education, government, banking, science, business.
At the end of the class, we had an activity. That was that each country had to make a group to present about the uses of ITCs in education, business or government of that country. However, I only had one country-mate in class.  Therefore, i had to join with Somila friends. It was very special. A group come from Asia and Africa. Our topic was about "describe about the uses of ICts in government in your country" . All of us chose my country- VietNam to describe. We found lost of good information on the internet;however, we presented          badly. I think we should practice more to be confident in front of lots of people.

Week 3: Introduction about computers

After IM, i have learnt about computers." Computer is a programmable machine/device that carries out what it has been instructed to do." Nowadays, a lot of  people have to use computers every day for their work or study. Because of its practical benefit. I also use computer most of the time, such as face-booking, watching movie, listening music and so on. However, i hadn't known about it clearly until i have been taught about it at my IT class. I have been added more knowledge about computer on that day, such as: about evolution of computers. There are 5 generations of computer :

1. First generation (1940-1950): Vacuum tube.
2. Second generation (1950-1964): Transistor.
3. Third generation (1964-1974): Integrated circuits (IC).
4. Fourth generation (1974-present): VLSI/ULSI.
5. Fifth generation (Now-Future):  

Week 3: Presentation about IM

Finally, Our group has done presentation. This is the first time that i hold a microphone to present in front of over 50 peoples. Even though, my part was very short and easy, but i was very shy and embarrassed at that time. Today, i have gathered for myself an valuable experience. And i hope that i will have an other chance to do it better. There were a lot of problems with IM that we have learned from the other groups such as the problems in translators, hospital, library etc... Moreover, they were very intelligent to find the way to solve with them. For example: _The problem is that the data is semi-structure data and multimedia data. We found the solution is : there are commercial product for automatically matching images, such as fingerprints and faces ; matching audio, including voice, music and sound and so on . In my opinion, the fact that working in a group really brings more successful than working by own and also give us a chance to learn from the other people and experience from the other groups. I am very happy today, even though my group are not the most perfect. However, the most importance is that we have tried the best.

Week 2: Information management

Week 2: _ we are taught about information management,"What is the information management(IM)?" - that question has been in my mind during the period on last Tuesday. Moreover, we had to participate in a group with 6 people for presentation on Wednesday. I have found a group for myself that includes 3 boy and 3 girls. Firstly, i felt so troubled, because i did not know any one of them.Besides that, i also did not understand the lesson clearly. _And also in that day , our group had meeting in student centre at night. Our topic was " The problems associated with IM and find solutions to overcome these problems". Probably, we had to choose a leader first. Our leader is Pisey- a guy from Cambodia. He has explained us what the topic expect us.Then , all of us stared to search information on the internet. Fortunately, we has found it easily. Specifically, Raysa (a guy from Malaysia) did it very well. The next step was that we have to design our power point. Juhanh(a boy from Thailand) has volunteered to do it .We worked until at 11pm, at that time i suddenly remembered that our hostel gate would be closed at 11pm. Therefore , we had to stop working even though we still had lots of work to do. Finally, Nadia , Ani (2 girls from Malaysia) and i decided to do the remaining works in hostel. _we worked actively together and thanks on that i have understood better about IM. Probably, people cannot keep the large number of information by their own memory , therefore Information management systems is really necessary. Information is a general terms that refers to managing any kind of information. Understanding that , we were easy to find out about the problems which exist with it. And we have done it on time. _On Wednesday, the other group has presented their task. They really did it perfect. We found lots of different problems and the lecturer has shown what are really important points . _However, we did not have enough time for all groups. Therefore, my group is going to present our "achievement" in next week . Let's wait for it. hehe~~
